This feels like the appropriate moment to mention that the ONLY activity we had actually made reservations for during our trip up to Northern Washington was canceled because of morning fog. But we pivoted and got to experience Moran State Park on Orcas Island!
This wasn’t the vacation we had planned for months ago, BUT it’s the vacation we lived and we couldn’t complain.
Our trip to the North Cascades National Park was hindered only by the smoke and air quality. We arrived while the wildfires were raging in the west, so we kept most of our adventures light. First stop: the Trail of the Cedars.
If you’re in/around the Pacific Northwest, or maybe Idaho, and you need one last adventure before the weather really starts changing, then might I present: The Painted Hills. It’s one of three “units” in the John Day Fossil Beds, and completely worth the trip!
Am I right?? You can watch the video of our trek HERE!
