July 2020 – Mt. Hood National Forest – Tamawanas Falls

If you’re looking for an adventure on the east side of Mt. Hood, this hike is your answer!

Keep in mind that it can get REALLY busy, so don’t forget that mask! Check out the video below!

Here’s the video:

The hike itself isn’t terribly challenging, and there are plenty of little off-shoots if you want to spend some time next to the river.

The “worst” part was the scramble up a boulder field, which is just a hop, skip, and jump from Tamawanas Falls — so take your time, power through, and you won’t be disappointed (frankly, coming back through the rocks after getting to the falls was worse than the going)!

Once we made it to the falls area, it was clear to see why so many people wanted to be there. The falls are GORGEOUS and the light mist coming off of them does not disappoint.

(PS. We most definitely had masks, just took them off briefly for the picture!)

Once we got back to the car, the parking lot was beyond full! In fact, cars were spilling into other spots along OR-35. We briefly had our lunch under the trees and then set back for home.

Happy Hiking, Friends!
